Its been over 30 years since Milla Jovovich left the then-USSR before eventually settling in California.

But despite being an American citizen these days, Milla still has a lot of affection for her former home as she attended the Moscow premiere of her latest film Resident Evil: Retribution. The mother-of-one, 36, looked striking in a multi-coloured swirly bandeau dress by Reem Acra as she arrived on the red carpet with English husband - and the film's director - Paul W.S. Anderson, 47.

Although born in Kiev in modern-day Ukraine, Milla still looks at Russia as well as her home. She tweeted ahead of the screening: 'Hey hey! We're about to enter the Russian premiere of RE:R!! So excited!!' Ahead of arriving in Russia, Milla has also been promoting the film in Japan, with the Los Angeles premiere scheduled to take place on September 12.

She's a veteran when it comes to working a red carpet, and Milla Jovovich brought her beauty and grace to Tokyo for Monday's (September 3) world premiere of "Resident Evil: Retribution".

The 36-year-old actress joked with the Roppongi Hills audience during a brief onstage appearance before unleashing her new action/horror flick on the big screen for the very first time.[SOURCE]

Actress MILLA JOVOVICH refused to shoot pretend zombies at a Japanese movie theatre as a promotional stunt for her new film RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION following this summer's (12) Colorado's cinema massacre. Twelve people were killed and 58 others injured when suspected gunman James Holmes allegedly opened fire in a packed Aurora movie theatre during a midnight showing of Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises on 20 July (12).

The incident prompted widespread concern of copycat killings and a reevaluation of the nation's safety regulations, with several Americans being arrested in the wake of the tragedy after reportedly threatening a repeat. Now Jovovich reveals she shut down requests from film bosses to create hype for her upcoming thriller by showing up at its Japanese premiere and pretending to shoot fake zombies.

She tells the New York Daily News, "They asked me to come out and shoot zombies in the theatre. And I was like, 'There's absolutely no way I'm doing anything violent in a movie theatre.'" [SOURCE]

When Resident Evil: Retribution hits theaters this September, it will be franchise star Milla Jovovich's fifth movie as amnesic zombie killer Alice, propelling her past Sigourney Weaver's four-movie run as Ripley in the Alien franchise to become the new queen of sci-fi/action movies. While Jovovich is aware that "it's a big deal" for Resident Evil to be a successful "female driven" franchise, she doesn't rest on her laurels, continually striving to satisfy the fans by doing as many of the stunts required of her butt-kicking character as possible. But, even when the car she is in is set on fire or she's hung from the ceiling by cables to give her an extra boost during fight scenes, Jovovich finds that it's hard to think of portraying Alice as "work" because she's "hanging out with people that are really wonderful" and she's "having so much fun."

During a recent roundtable interview session to promote Resident Evil: Retribution, Jovovich helped to pull back the curtain on the "corridor of light" sequence (pictured), revealing that stickers were used for some of the blood spatter on the walls and how the set was rigged to allow her to do her stunts. Jovovich also explained why she and her husband, writer-director Paul W.S. Anderson, don't take message boards very seriously and advised young actresses who are told that they can't be action heroes to not "listen to naysayers."
