Over 100 needy families and children in the Houston suburb of Deer Park, Texas are in desperate need of clothing, food, and financial assistance. With Christmas on the horizon in just a few short weeks, Deer Park resident Neil Boone of The Boone Brothers has taken on the task of working in partnership with Deer Park First Baptist Church to create the Boone Kids Fundraiser and help feed, clothe, and provide gifts this Christmas to the underprivileged in several ways.
The immediate need for help is apparent, from not just the immediate community but anyone who is willing to share the message of kindness and love nationally or internationally. These are challenging times for many and while the Boone Kids need your support, we realize there are many other children and other families worldwide in need of the very same kinds of assistance. Persons wishing to make a contribution to the Boone Kids Fundraiser may send their donations in a check or money order by mail to:
The NUY Cancer Institute website reported back in May 2009 that renowned designer Marc Jacobs is reissuing in color some of his “Protect the Skin You’re In” campaign tees, in which notable celebrities and fashion icons pose nude. Milla Jovovich poses nude on one of Jacobs’ tees, as do fellow celebrities Victoria Beckham, Chloë Sevigny, Heidi Klum, Dita Von Teese and Doutzen Kroes. From the May 2009 update of the The NUY Cancer Institute website:
Marc Jacobs has reissued color versions of some of the most popular “Protect The Skin You’re In” celebrity nude T-shirts as part of an ongoing campaign to raise awareness about the deadly skin cancer and benefit melanoma research at the NYU Cancer Institute at NYU Langone Medical Center. The campaign, which features more than a dozen celebrities baring all for skin cancer, has already raised over $1 million for the NYU School of Medicine’s Interdisciplinary Melanoma Cooperative Group (IMCG).
“The public awareness generated by the T-shirt campaign is enormous, not to mention the funds that have been raised,” says Dr. William L. Carroll, director of the NYU Cancer Institute, who notes that proceeds of the sales of the T-shirts benefit IMCG. “We are grateful for the generosity of Marc Jacobs and Robert Duffy in allowing the NYU Cancer Institute to focus on research and advancing clinical care.”
The NYU Interdisciplinary Melanoma Cooperative Group (NYU-IMCG) is a multidisciplinary melanoma translational research program dedicated to advancing the care of melanoma patients through a coordinated approach combining basic science, translational research and clinical care. Its 23 investigators represent 11 departments at NYU Langone Medical Center. Since 2002, it has enrolled over one-thousand patients, who have donated blood and tumor tissues for research. NYU-IMCG is supported by the NYU Cancer Institute, NYU School of Medicine’s Ronald O. Perelman Department of Dermatology, and the Marc Jacobs’ campaigns to support melanoma research.

All proceeds from the sale the campaign tees will be donated to the NYU Cancer Institute at NYU Langone Medical Center.
