One of the many films to show off new footage at Comic-Con was writer-director Paul W.S. Anderson‘s Resident Evil: Retribution. In the series’ fifth installment, Alice (Milla Jovovich) continues her search across the globe for those responsible for the deadly outbreak. Things take a twist, however, when she runs into a few familiar faces. The film also stars Michelle Rodriguez, Sienna Guillory, Kevin Durand, Shawn Roberts, Colin Salmon, Johann Urb, Boris Kodjoe, and Li Bingbing.

Shortly after the panel, I sat down with writer-director Paul W.S. Anderson for an extended interview. We talked about the scope of Resident Evil: Retribution, how post-production has been going, test screenings, the action, viral marketing, and more. In addition, Anderson revealed his first cut of Event Horizon has just been found on VHS and he also talks about Death Race: Inferno. Hit the jump to watch.

Milla Jovovich Talks RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION, Where Things Pick Up in the Fifth Movie, and the Possibility of a Sixth at Comic-Con

While at Comic-Con for a presentation in Hall H, actress Milla Jovovich spoke with the press about the fifth installment in the popular Resident Evil franchise. In Resident Evil: Retribution, which resurrects Michelle Rodriguez’s character from the first film, Alice (Jovovich) fights alongside a resistance movement in the continuing battle against the Umbrella Corporation and the undead. During the interview, Jovovich talked about where things pick up with this film, the bigger nature of the story, the biggest challenge with this movie, and the possibility of a sixth and final film. She also talked about the Ice Cats book she wrote when she was seven years old, that strongly resembled ThunderCats, and her preference for action figures over Barbie dolls. Check out what she had to say after the jump.

When Resident Evil: Retribution hits theaters this September, it will be franchise star Milla Jovovich's fifth movie as amnesic zombie killer Alice, propelling her past Sigourney Weaver's four-movie run as Ripley in the Alien franchise to become the new queen of sci-fi/action movies. While Jovovich is aware that "it's a big deal" for Resident Evil to be a successful "female driven" franchise, she doesn't rest on her laurels, continually striving to satisfy the fans by doing as many of the stunts required of her butt-kicking character as possible. But, even when the car she is in is set on fire or she's hung from the ceiling by cables to give her an extra boost during fight scenes, Jovovich finds that it's hard to think of portraying Alice as "work" because she's "hanging out with people that are really wonderful" and she's "having so much fun."

During a recent roundtable interview session to promote Resident Evil: Retribution, Jovovich helped to pull back the curtain on the "corridor of light" sequence (pictured), revealing that stickers were used for some of the blood spatter on the walls and how the set was rigged to allow her to do her stunts. Jovovich also explained why she and her husband, writer-director Paul W.S. Anderson, don't take message boards very seriously and advised young actresses who are told that they can't be action heroes to not "listen to naysayers."

Sony Screen Gems’ forthcoming Resident Evil: Retribution, which is directed once again by Paul W.S. Anderson, is less than two months away and we’re starting to see an “ultimate saturation” point with the marketing materials. A few weeks back we showed you a one-sheet featuring Alice (Milla Jovovich) going global (at least that was the tagline). But now a new international poster has decided that the look from two weeks ago would go over better gussied up with some zombies. I’ve included both below the jump for comparison. [SOURCE]

Yahoo Movies has posted up a featurette showcasing "Alice's Story." It's basically a 2 minute recap, narrated by Alice, of the last four films with some glimpses of new footage for Retribution, and ending with news that a Resident Evil Blue Ray collection of the first 4 films will be released on September 4th.
