Interview from Yahoo! Philippines:
Q: Does your daughter understand what you do?
Oh yeah. She's complete set baby. She's understood that when papa says "action", or any director for that matter, like if she comes on a commercial with me, you don't talk until they say "cut", she's known that for years. She knew that on the last one when she was one and a half, two, but one this one, she actually met zombies. (laughs) Because on the last one, I don't know what genius put this floor plan together, but they had my trailer right across from the zombie makeup trailer on Afterlife, or whatever the last Resident Evil movie I did was called. (laughs) And literally, I come in, I'm seeing zombies walking in and out right in front of my trailer, I said to the AD, "Are you having a laugh, mate?" Like seriously, I have a one and a half year old child, that's going to be coming in about an hour and a half to eat lunch with me and I've got zombies walking in front of my trailer? But then Arianna, who is this little actress in the movie, became really good friends with her. Then she went to find Arianna who was in the makeup trailer with the zombies and she saw that her friend wasn't scared, so she was fine. And now she's scaring them, chasing them around. It was so cute; I mean she is definitely, probably the only four year old in the world that is not scared of zombies.

From beginnings as a style princess, Milla Jovovich has become the reigning big-screen queen of kick-butt - and not even motherhood can slow her down. Elaine Lipworth chats to the Ukrainian-born beauty.

It's a sticky, oppressive Los Angeles afternoon but Milla Jovovich looks remarkably cool and fresh. It's as if she has been designed that way, and aircon simply isn't required to deflect the sweltering heat outside the five-star hotel where we are meeting for tea. Wearing grey skinny jeans, a cream jacket by The Kooples and black-and-white sling-back heels, she has wide, expressive, greyish-blue eyes and wavy brown hair. She sashays like the model she once was across the corridor to greet me.

Jovovich has enjoyed success as a high-profile model, musician, fashion designer, businesswoman and, of course, actor, recognised chiefly for the sci-fi and kick-arse action roles that have defined her movie career so far. "My whole life, since I was a kid, I've been saying I don't want to be pigeon-holed," she says, smiling. "Now I'm 35 and I think the opposite - it's okay. People love me doing action movies, and that's awesome. I am very serious about my career and I still get to do my independent films and record my music on the side. It's all good. I'm very happy."

The actress on why she has no sympathy for the fashion designer, marrying for a bank card and suffering from zombie nightmares.

Milla Jovovich is supremely busy. Aside from acting, lately she’s been in the recording studio with rock band Puscifer, working as a brand ambassador for L’Oréal, Mercedes and Jacob & Co – and raising her daughter Ever Gabo, three. ‘I learned very early you don’t get anything without hard work, and that’s what I do,’ says the 35-year-old. ‘I’ll bring my daughter up with the same work ethic.’

Born in Ukraine, Jovovich grew up in the US after fleeing her homeland aged five with her father, a Serbian doctor, and her mother, also an actress. In America she caused a furore as a child model in provocative photographs by Richard Avedon and Herb Ritts. ‘I wouldn’t allow my daughter to do what I did,’ she says. ‘But at the same time my circumstances were different. We didn’t have much and my mum taught me to do what she did: act and entertain. That’s my mother’s milk.’

She went on to model for Donna Karan, Christian Dior and Versace, and made her breakthrough as an actress in 1997’s The Fifth Element, before starring in the Resident Evil series, directed by her husband Paul WS Anderson. Her upcoming films include horror thriller Faces In The Crowd and The Three Musketeers.

Having starred in action movies including Resident Evil, The Fifth Element and Ultraviolet, Milla Jovovich is no stranger to brandishing a sword. And now it seems Milla's three-year-old daughter Ever is set to follow in her mother's footsteps, judging by a picture the actress posted on her Twitter page today. In the shot, adorable Ever is seen pulling a screaming face for the camera, while holding up a play sword and wearing an elaborate guard on her arm.

The image, however, was somewhat ruined by the fact Ever was clad in a super-cute pink dress bearing the image of a cuddly kitten. In the caption for the photograph, Milla wrote: 'Jst took this 1 of Ever 2day! RE (Resident Evil) 12 any1?' Milla recently revealed she thinks Ever has what it takes to follow her into the showbiz industry.
