Actress MILLA JOVOVICH refused to shoot pretend zombies at a Japanese movie theatre as a promotional stunt for her new film RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION following this summer's (12) Colorado's cinema massacre. Twelve people were killed and 58 others injured when suspected gunman James Holmes allegedly opened fire in a packed Aurora movie theatre during a midnight showing of Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises on 20 July (12).

The incident prompted widespread concern of copycat killings and a reevaluation of the nation's safety regulations, with several Americans being arrested in the wake of the tragedy after reportedly threatening a repeat. Now Jovovich reveals she shut down requests from film bosses to create hype for her upcoming thriller by showing up at its Japanese premiere and pretending to shoot fake zombies.

She tells the New York Daily News, "They asked me to come out and shoot zombies in the theatre. And I was like, 'There's absolutely no way I'm doing anything violent in a movie theatre.'" [SOURCE]

Written and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, ‘Resident Evil: Retribution,’ the fifth installment in game-to-film franchise stars Milla Jovovich, Michelle Rodriguez, Sienna Guillory, Kevin Durand, Shawn Roberts, Colin Salmon, Johann Urb, Boris Kodjoe and Li Bingbing. The Umbrella Corporation’s deadly T-virus continues to ravage the Earth, transforming the global population into legions of the flesh eating Undead. The human race’s last and only hope, Alice (Milla Jovovich), awakens in the heart of Umbrella’s most clandestine operations facility and unveils more of her mysterious past as she delves further into the complex.

Without a safe haven, Alice continues to hunt those responsible for the outbreak; a chase that takes her from Tokyo to New York, Washington, D.C. and Moscow, culminating in a mind-blowing revelation that will force her to rethink everything that she once thought to be true. Aided by newfound allies and familiar friends, Alice must fight to survive long enough to escape a hostile world on the brink of oblivion. The countdown has begun. ‘Resident Evil: Retribution’ opens in 3D, 2D and IMAX 3D on September 14th in the US and September 28th in the UK.

Its been over 30 years since Milla Jovovich left the then-USSR before eventually settling in California.

But despite being an American citizen these days, Milla still has a lot of affection for her former home as she attended the Moscow premiere of her latest film Resident Evil: Retribution. The mother-of-one, 36, looked striking in a multi-coloured swirly bandeau dress by Reem Acra as she arrived on the red carpet with English husband - and the film's director - Paul W.S. Anderson, 47.

Although born in Kiev in modern-day Ukraine, Milla still looks at Russia as well as her home. She tweeted ahead of the screening: 'Hey hey! We're about to enter the Russian premiere of RE:R!! So excited!!' Ahead of arriving in Russia, Milla has also been promoting the film in Japan, with the Los Angeles premiere scheduled to take place on September 12.

The director reveals how Capcom's games have influenced the film franchise and tells THR how he took advantage of 3D for his forthcoming movie.

This fall will see the ultimate example of Hollywood and videogame synergy. Sony Pictures kicks things off Friday with the launch of Resident Evil: Retribution, which stars Milla Jovovich, Sienna Guillory, Boris Kodjoe and Michelle Rodriguez. On Sept. 25, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment unleashes the computer-generated sequel, Resident Evil: Damnation, on Blu-ray and DVD. And then on Oct. 6, Capcom brings Resident Evil 6 to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 (with a PC version to follow).

Never before in the history of the Resident Evil games or films have the stars aligned so perfectly for fans of these franchises. Paul W.S. Anderson, who has been involved in all five films and is back in the director’s chair for a second consecutive film, is a gamer through-and-through. He has watched as the two successful franchises have borrowed creatively from each other and managed to excel within their own media. Anderson tells The Hollywood Reporter how past games have influenced Retribution and how the Resident Evil 6 game could impact the sixth film.

The extended clip is dubbed in German, but do you really care? Let's be serious you don't watch these movies for the insightful dialogue, it's all about the action. Am I right or am I right?

We previously saw a one minute version of this scene, now you can enjoy an extra minute and a half. I also included the latest television spot which features quotes from three whole critics that took a shine to the film. Enjoy!

ACCORDING TO A SPANISH Resident Evil facebook, Resident Evil: Retribution may have an extended cut... that's exclusive only to Blu Ray 3D (FML). I expect it might be as extended as Terminator Salvation.

now look forward to the Blu-ray of Resident Evil Retribution ... is the extended version of the film .. lasts almost two hours ... in theaters cut many scenes and lasted less

With Hollywood flick Resident Evil: Retribution now in theatres, the cast doesn’t need those fancy outfits anymore! Today at the Tokyo Game Show, the costumes from the movie were on display, headless statues and all.

There’s Alice’s skin tight body suit, Ada Wong’s dress, Carlos Olivera’s gear, and the outfit worn by Japanese popstar Mika Nakashima, who plays one of the infected victims. Have a look.

Milla Jovovich first stepped into the boots of the zombie-fighting heroine Alice a decade ago, not knowing that the “Resident Evil” role would help cement her place among the queens of sci-fi. It’s a character she’s been happy to inhabit and develop, working closely with her now-husband Paul W.S. Anderson, who wrote all five films in the franchise and directed three of them, including “Resident Evil: Retribution,” which opened last weekend.

Lucky for both of them, Jovovich isn’t ready to break up with Alice.

“Every time we see Alice, it’s like some different iteration of the same person,” the 36-year-old actress said. “I think there’s definitely been an evolution. It’s not like we’re repeating the same stuff over and over and regurgitating things over and over, so it keeps it fresh and keeps it interesting. I think that’s what kind of makes these movies stand apart, in that sense where people do keep coming back to see them.”

Los Angeles: What is the most attractive thing about a horror film? Music and off-course ghosts? Sure enough! Sony Pictures upcoming release Resident Evil: Retribution once again brings the terrifying music and the blood drained undeads.

The previous films in the franchise too gained popularity for its music as much as its storyline and action. The music of the film, action and its special effect together are the flavor retainers of the Resident Evil films.

Fifth installment outdoes predecessor

Overseas auds proved game yet again for Sony-Screen Gems' "Resident Evil: Retribution," as the franchise's fifth installment, "Retribution," grossed nearly $50 million from 59 debut territories over the Sept. 14-16 frame. The film outdid its 2010 predecessor "Afterlife," which bowed to $39 million, by about 28%, from approximately same profile of day-and-date markets as "Retribution," throughout southeast Asia and Latin America.

How Resident Evil director and cast cope with the criticisms of the RE-Movieverse.

Rodriguez then went on to mock those that slag off the films: "At the end of the day I know that the franchise has its following and it has that following for a reason. "They love the idea of the world destroying itself. So I don't think this franchise is going anywhere soon - even with critical 15-year-olds". That's a sure fire way to win them over, Michelle.

In a separate interview Paul W.S. Anderson confirmed his view that it's more about what the fans think than the press, saying: "When the audience are on their chairs cheering, that's my job done!" 'Resident Evil' star (and Anderson's wife) Milla Jovovich chipped in to explain that if you put the people that criticise the films in one room and ask them to do better, they'd end up killing each other. In between flirting with Yahoo! Movies and telling us that she loves British guys (because we're smart) she jokingly mocks "the haters" of the franchise. And after five films, you can rather see her point. Watch the full interview @link. [SOURCE]
